Hip-Hop helped make World Wrestling Entertainment’s (WWE) WrestleMania XXIV (24) the most successful live event in the history of the WWE and the Citrus Bowl, in Orlando, Florida.
A series of high profile matches featuring boxing champion Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Snoop Dogg and an appearance by Kim Kardashian helped Wreslemania XXIV gross more than $5.85 million dollars in ticket sales tonight (March 30).
R&B singer John Legend opened WrestleMania XXIV by singing the National Anthem. Sexpot Kim Kardashian introduced the Money in the Bank ladder match, while rapping wrestler John Cena and Triple H were defeated by Randy Orton during the Triple Threat Match.
Hip-Hop star Snoop Dogg presided over the Playboy Bunny Mania Lumber Jack Match. The rapper entered the ring in a tricked-out convertible Mercedes-Benz golf cart.
Interference from manager Santino Marella allowed Beth Phoenix and Melina to beat Ashley & Maria.
After the match, Snoop Dogg clotheslined Marella and then intimately kissed Maria to the crowd‘s delight. Floyd “Money” Mayweather defeated The Big Show, by smashing the 7 foot, 411 pound giant’s jaw with a pair of brass knuckles.
Kardashian re-entered the ring in a shapely, skin tight green dress and announced that the event also set a new attendance record for the Citrus Bowl by drawing in 74, 635 fans.
"We would like to thank WWE Fans from around the globe for making this year's WrestleMania one for the record books," said Geof Rochester, WWE’s Executive Vice President, Marketing. "We would also like to thank Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and John Saboor, President of the Central Florida Sports Commission, for all of their hospitality during WrestleMania week. It was a tremendous experience."
